UIDAI lets people with Aadhaar cardsto change their address without the need for documentation. Aadhaar cardholders can change their address, if they do not have the proof of identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily suspended a crucial service which permits you to alter your Aadhaar card's address, without documentary proof of address.
UIDAI allows holders of Aadhaar cards to change their address without the need for any paperwork. Aadhaar card holders can update their address, as long as they accept the authenticity and verification process of an address verifier. A verifier of address could be a close friend, relative landlord, family member or even a friend that allows the Aadhaar card holder to utilize their address as proof.
UIDAI has now stopped this feature. UIDAI addressed an Aadhaar Card owner via Twitter, stating that the capability to change the address on Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Certificate was removed. UIDAI has asked Aadhaar issuers to remind the Aadhaar issuer to notify the user that they can update their address using a authentic PoA document.
Dear Resident: The addresses Validation Letter service has been removed until the end of time. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
